A couple of nights ago me and a mate got as pissed as parrots and were talking the usual kind of shite
Some little time previous, an acquaintance and I were sitting at table and engaging in social intercourse. There was an abundance of alcoholic beverages available, of which we partook freely, consequently the subjects of our conversation, being many (as we continually abandoned one topic to pursue another) were, more or less, of a light and jolly nature.
(Yes, that sounds a much better intro . . . )
Well, as I was saying, we were both totally shit-faced and talking a load of right old bollocks which, at the time, seemed sensible enough, when me mate, Mic, (short for Michelle) told me about a Woody Allen quote that our mate Phil had passed on to him :
“In my next life I want to live my life backwards. You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people’s home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until you’re young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm!”
We both fell about pissing ourselves at that. But then we got to talking about re-birth and if the afterlife might really exist and, if it did, would we come back as vegetables (more laughter) or insects, animals or humans.
One thing led to another and we ended up agreeing (and this has got nothing to do with religion) that we thought that our lives were like some kind of learning curve and that when we kicked the bucket we were returned to some kind of energy pool and, in time, reborn to go on to the next stage of our “existence.”
What the final outcome of all this continual dying and being reborn was, we didn’t have a clue.
What do you think . . ?
